Celine Snippe is a playwright, lyricist, and librettist. Born and raised in a small town in The Netherlands, she currently lives in New York. Celine holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing (NYU Tisch School of the Arts), an MA in Musical Theatre (Goldsmiths College, University of London), and a BA in Theatre Studies (University of Amsterdam).
Recent works include The Place Between, a Lovecraftian horror musical (with composer Justin Gates), 29-hour Equity Reading (NYU Tisch, April 2019), ‘A Thousand Wonders’ and ‘Colour and Oil’ featured in the Curtain Up Festival (Berklee College of Music, April 2019, April 2020), ‘What Is Out There’ featured in Collaborative Cabaret with the Touring Cast of Wicked (Under the Arch Incubator in St. Louis, MO, December 2019); Free Solo, a rock climbing musical (with composer Jack Godfrey), Camden Fringe Festival (Hen and Chickens Theatre, July 2017), Take Note Festival (Tristan Bates Theatre, September 2017), Produced at Drayton Arms Theatre (April – May 2018), Participant in the BEAM Showcase (produced by Mercury Musical Developments at Theatre Royal Stratford East, March 2018), Studio Cast Recording out on Spotify and Apple Music (December 2018); The City Below, a noir podcast (co-written and directed by Justin Gates), made with support of the NYU Production Lab Podcast Academy (August – September 2019), the pilot episode is live on www.thecitybelowpodcast.com. Selections of her work have also been performed at several cabarets at NYU, as well as venues such as Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, the Mary Rodgers Room at the Dramatists Guild, and Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ.
